A police official said that the main accused, Golu, and the deceased’s son, Sandeep, used to stay together.
The Delhi Police on Friday arrested five people for their alleged involvement in a shooting at a flat in the Swaroop Nagar area on Wednesday that left a man dead and his wife injured. The incident allegedly took place over a dispute with the victim’s son.
The police identified the accused as Dinesh aka Golu, 30, Fareed, 20, Rajkumar, 22, Rihan, 19, and Aneez, 22. “Aneez did the recce of the victim’s house and planned the shooting,” Nidhin Valsan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North), said.
A police official said that the main accused, Golu, and the deceased’s son, Sandeep, used to stay together. Following an alleged dispute over money, Sandeep left their residence and returned to his parents’ flat, the police said.
According to the police, a PCR call was received at 6.57 pm on Wednesday about two people, a man and a woman, being shot in a flat in the Swaroop Nagar area. Upon reaching the spot, the victims were identified as Ashok, 42, and his wife Rachna, 40, and both were rushed to Burari Hospital.
Upon arrival, the doctors declared Ashok dead.
“Sandeep used to stay with Golu at his flat. Sandeep was not earning much and allegedly took some money from Golu. Unable to repay, he then moved back with his parents,” a police official said earlier.
On Wednesday evening, Golu and his friends went to Sandeep’s Swaroop Nagar residence. “Sandeep was not at home. Golu then shot his parents and ran away with the accused,” DCP Valsan said.
