The victim’s body was recovered from fields on May 14 with injuries on his face, head and stomach
Two 12-year-old boys allegedly killed an 11-year-old from their neighbourhood in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district by attacking him with a knife and stone after one of them was upset over being “blackmailed” by the victim, police said.
The victim was a class 3 student, it is learnt.
The police detained the two boys on Thursday and produced them before the Juvenile Justice Board which sent them to a correction home in Agra, said Circle Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh.
The victim’s body was recovered from fields on May 14 with injuries on his face, head and stomach. A case was then registered against an unidentified person on charges of murder at the local police station.
One of the boys detained in the case initially told the police that a masked man had attacked and killed the victim. The police, however, began to suspect the involvement of the two boys, as they were last seen going to the fields with the victim and were frequently changing their statements.
“When the two were questioned in detail, they confessed to have killed the boy as he blackmailed one of them by threatening to inform his family about his misconduct with a girl,” said a police officer.
The main accused told the police that the victim started blackmailing him, and he even gave him money on two occasions.
“According to the plan, they took the victim to a nearby field. Once there, one of them pulled out a knife and attacked the victim, while the other hit him on his head with a stone. The boys also hit at the victim’s private parts,” said the officer.
After the victim collapsed, the boys ran back to the village and told the locals that a man with his face covered attacked them. The villagers rushed to the spot and found the victim’s body lying there.
